If you require urgent medical assistance due to accident, injuries or unwell on the day, phone us immediately. We have appointments set aside every day for patients that are needing to be seen on the day; these will be assessed by our Nurses. We also have phone triage appointments available with our GPs. When you phone the practice, a nurse will determine which appointment is appropriate to your needs.
After Hours Care

- Note that Omaka Medical will always try and accommodate our patients Mon-Fri during opening hours.
ACC Injuries
Full assessment and treatment is available for all injuries. Note - Omaka Medical has urgent same day appointments available, please call the practice Mon-Fri 8.30am-5pm.
Minor Surgery
- Our GPs are able to assess and remove skin lesions. Lesions must be assessed by a GP prior to an appointment being made for minor surgery. Prices for minor surgery range from $100-$500 depending on number and complexity.
Skin Checks
- Our doctors are trained to check for melanoma or other skin lesions. Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) is available Monday to Friday for the treatment of warts and other skin lesions. These need to be sighted by a GP prior to treatment.
Travel consultations
- We advise people requiring travel vaccinations/advice to come in for a travel consultation with the practice nurse. This takes 30 mins and will ensure that your specific circumstances are discussed fully
. Please note that you will require at least a month prior to travel for vaccinations.
Chronic Condition Management
- E.g. - Diabetes, Asthma, CPD etc
Our aim is to help patients, and people they interact with, with self-management through support and education. You can see our friendly and experienced nurses by appointment.
Repeat Prescription Requests
- Please allow us enough time for repeat prescription requests to be processed – allow 2 working days. Please note a prescription charge applies ($18). A higher cost applies for urgent script requests.
Dietary Advice
- Our nursing team can offer you advice and support in the areas of weight management, cholesterol control and lifestyle advice.
Family Planning
- We offer a comprehensive family planning service including oral contraception, pregnancy testing, STI and fertility advice, IUCD/Mirena insertion and removal. Note that some patients are eligible for free insertion and removal.
Maternity Care
- We are only too happy to discuss any aspects of your maternity care with you. We have a close relationship with midwives and we offer comprehensive postnatal care for both mothers and babies.
Health Improvement Practitioner
- We now have a Health Improvement Practitioner or HIP as part of our general practice team. Our HIP is named Katy and she works Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You can book appointments with her on any of her work days that suit your schedule. Her appointments are for 30 minutes and are funded.
Same day appointments are available.
Katy offers practical assistance with stress and problems of living. She sees children, youth, families and adults of any age. She also helps with making changes to health behaviours such as starting an exercise program, preparing for better sleep or changing tobacco use.
