I trained as a nurse through the Christchurch Hospital school of Nursing, and spent time in a surgical ward then the Dept of Nuclear Medicine for 2 years. I decided at this time to make practice nursing which was in it's very early stages my career. The government paid our wages in the hope that GP's could see more patients and it would reduce the cost for patients (In those days any thing a nurse did for you was free ) I have worked continually since then in many varied practices, some full time and others part time while doing Orthopaedic research. My particular areas of interest are in Diabetes, Travel medicine and Child development especially speech. We shifted to Motueka in 2012 after the Christchurch Earthquakes, and I started working at what was then Central Medical. I have been there now just over 5 years and seen many changes, including the name, and as a Rural practice and one of the busiest I have worked for it has presented me with some challenges. With a change to The Doctors Motueka and the accompanying change in management, we now have a wonderful team of very dedicated permanent staff who all work together to support each other and provide the best medical care possible for our patients
