About Us

Mission Statement
We strive to deliver high quality, patient centred, accessible care to our community
Mairangi Medical Centre has a long history of providing service to the East Coast Bays community. The practice was first started by Dr Mark Hepburn and Dr Andrew Blair in the 1940s - although it was not then called Mairangi Medical Centre.
Dr Lewis King joined the practice in the early 1970s and in 1975 Dr Graeme Stone joined the practice - and the beginnings of Mairangi Medical Centre as it is today were forged.

As Mairangi Medical Centre has such a long association with the community, it has developed into a true "family-oriented" medical centre - serving grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren of the same family. In fact, we consider ourselves a family. Many of our patients and their families have stayed with us for decades, providing a uniquely valuable long term history of their health.

As governments come and go, Mairangi Medical Centre has endeavoured to keep pace with the latest strategies in order to provide the best health care possible to its patient population. We have a long-term commitment to the community we serve, and we will no doubt still be here after the next major changes to the health systems have occurred.
We aim to provide high quality health care to individuals and families in an environment and scale where the family is central. The staff and their patients get to know each other, so that medical care becomes personalised, accessible, supportive, and non-threatening.
Use of technology in health care has been at the “leading edge” at MMC since the early 1980s when the first computers were installed, and continues to underpin the administration and quality assurance activities for the practice. Our patient portal gives access to online appointments, prescription requests, and laboratory results.

We have a long term commitment to recruitment and teaching of nurses and doctors for general practice so that we can all enjoy high quality health care into the future.
We aim to provide long term high quality health care to individuals and families in a friendly and supportive environment, responding and adapting to the changing needs of our patient population, and to the challenges of the national health care environment.
